A HIGHLY DECORATED HOT ROD
Gil Berry is the 3rd owner of this 1960 Corvette and it’s been in his possession for the past 39 years. It just underwent a 2-year restoration where it received a ton of upgrades, beginning with the powertrain.
An LS3 resides under the hood backed up by a 6-speed automatic and Ford 9-inch rear end. Baer brakes are on all four corners behind the Boyd Coddington Wheels. A fabric power top, Vintage Air and push-to-start ignition round out the modern conveniences added to this C1 Vette. “I don’t know about stereos, but it was expensive,” Gil says as he points out the Focal speakers and amp in the trunk. But, then again, looking, and sounding good don’t come cheap.
But all that money spent was worth the effort. When I met Gil at the Pittsburgh World of Wheels in January of 2022, the car was honored as a Steel City 6 build and had already garnered accolades from shows at Live Casino in Greensburg, PA, The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix and was a top 6 car at the Endless Summer Cruise in Ocean City, MD among 5,000 cars.
