Ride Of The Week 07/31/2023: Rick Ford's 2018 Dodge Charger Scat Pack

EVIL DUKE

I’ve seen this vertical two-tone Dodge Charger a few times since I moved back to the Pittsburgh Area. At a Pittsburgh Cars & Coffee event in Warrendale, PA, I was able to meet the owner and get the story behind the “Evil Duke”.

Despite his last name, Rick Ford is a Mopar guy. He’s always wanted a Charger. “I really wanted a ’70, but that’s just too far out of reach, so I got this 2018 Scat Pack,” Rick tells me.

Like most of us who grew up in the 80s, he was a big fan of the “Dukes of Hazzard” as a kid. He wanted to do something a little different than the typical “General Lee” tribute. He took his Destroyer Grey Charger and had half of it wrapped in Orange with a black stripe down the center. The ‘01’ is emblazoned on the front doors and “General Lee’ in blue block letters on the rear doors.

“I think of it like black & white TV vs color TV or a character that is two-faced or has two sides to their personality. I’ll probably pull it off soon and do something different, but people seem to like it,” Rick explained.

The vinyl isn’t the only modification to this Charger. Rick has also installed Long Tube headers, a cold air intake and Dynamax racing bullets that make this Hemi sound vicious, kinda evil, even.
