RESTOMOD WAGON
My tastes lean toward pro-touring style restomods. So, when I find a car that kinda has that look, I take notice. During a visit to Michigan this past summer I came across a car cruise where I spotted a cool Mopar Wagon with a few resto-mod touches.
Jerry Carrico of Commerce Twp, MI found this 1961 Chrysler Newport Town & Country Wagon on Bring a Trailer. He said the lady he bought it from used it to tow an old Airstream Trailer. It was originally an Ohio car that spent some of its life in Alaska.
Jerry said that it’s finished in a BMW red. It features the original 413 ci block with an MSD ignition and EFI. The wheels are 18” in the front and 20” in the back for a nice rake. The brakes are from a Dodge Dakota but are still merely a suggestion. Recently he removed the aftermarket radio and replaced it with a vintage one. The HVAC controls were returned to factory correct but aren’t hooked up. That’s a winter project along with a brake upgrade. As for cruising this summer, it’s about taking your time and making plans to stop early!
