LS SWAP THE WORLD
We last featured an LS Swap as #RideOfTheWeek back in January with Richard Kinnison’s “Abomination”. That was an LS in a Mopar, this week’s is an LS in a Ford.
When I first saw Matt Berfield’s 1965 Ford Falcon at a cars & coffee, it really caught my eye, because #1: It’s a ’65 Falcon and #2: It was done with an old-school NASCAR feel. It had a chin spoiler, blacked out wheels and a mean stock car stance wrapped in a period Tropical Turquoise finish with a 5 liter Ford under the hood.
That was 2019. In the ensuing years, Matt’s made a few upgrades to the old Falcon. The biggest of which happened over the course of 2020 when he swapped the 302 ci V8 for a GM LS2. Why? Cause it was cheap!
Matt had a friend offer him the LS and a T-56 transmission for a great price, so while car shows were canceled and the pandemic raged, this Falcon was undergoing a heart transplant. Thankfully, the surgery was a complete success, and the Falcon now has strong a “heartbeat” under the hood.
It also got some cosmetic upgrades, too with a big blade spoiler and an aggressive front fascia. Another upgrade that kinda hides in plain sight are the side exhausts that exit just in front of the rear wheels, just alike a stock car.
Thanks for sharing your story, Matt. Follow Matt's adventures with his Falcon on Instagram @falcon_ls2.
