“OPPOSITES ATTRACT”
This edition of Ride Of The Week is a two-fer. Lisa & Brad Benscoter caught my attention at a couple of shows this summer with her 1979 Camaro Z28 & his 1969 Mustang Mach 1. Two gorgeous cars from a couple that is a mixed marriage of American Muscle.
Lisa is a Camaro Gal, 2nd gen to be specific. She had a 1977 LT before she bought this ’79 Z28 back in 1985. She fell in love with it at first sight. But just because she’s a Camaro gal, doesn’t mean she can’t appreciate a Mustang.
While at a bar in Danville, PA she saw an ’86 Mustang GT in the parking lot. She said, “I gonna take home the guy who owns that!” When she walked into the bar, the guy (Brad) saw her first! And the rest is history.
Brad, a mechanic and Mustang enthusiast, bought this 1969 Mach 1 in 1987 for $150! It was restored over a two-year period to the condition you see it in now and it’s held up pretty well over the last 30 years.
As for the Z28, Brad recently restored Lisa’s car with fresh paint, carpet, and an engine rebuild. It now rides on a set of American Racing Torq Thrust wheels. “Brad vetoed my wheel choice. He insisted I get these.” I think he made the right call, for a Mustang guy! 😊
